We can purchase these types from any store that sells candle-making supplies and candle-making kits. It’s also worth noting that this same store most likely sells soap-making supplies. If you are tired of continually buying soap or candle molds from your local craft stores, you can also re-use and interchange your existing molds to make them more fun and exciting. It will also allow you to save some money.

Pros in Using Soap/Candle Molds

Candle making is similar to soap making. As we pour the wax into the candle mold, we drizzle a glycerin compound into the soap mold. Candle molds are typically larger than soap molds. Another thing is that, more often than not, colors and scents are added to both candles and soaps. There are many dyes and perfumes that you can use and pour into the candle wax mixture or the soap mixture to make both the candles and soaps more appealing and aromatic.

Soap molds are typically interchangeable with plastic candle molds. They are generally ly cheap. You can find them in various shapes and sizes like stars, flowers, fruit, animals, and heart-shaped molds. Plastic molds are perfect when you are just starting in this craft of candle making, as they are easy to use. You also won’t have problems cleaning this mold after candle making.

Cons in Using Soap/Candle Molds

Plastic soap and candle molds, however, wear out quickly. So, if you want to be an avid candle maker and make candles regularly, this type of mold will not last long. You’ll have to replace your molds regularly. Plastic candle molds can become brittle after extended use, at which point you will have to buy more expensive molds for your candle-making hobby. It’s also worth noting that silicone molds, which can be used for those soap and candle making, are a step up from plastic molds. When using silicone, you can even create custom molds. You can make these molds yourself or ask the product’s manufacturer to make them according to your specifications.

rubber soap candle molds

As mentioned above, candle and soap molds deteriorate quickly. As a result, if you plan to use the molds for both soap and candle making, their lifespan will be significantly reduced.

We can use most soap molds. Just make sure there are no holes in the candle wax mixture before pouring it in. Do not overlook this step, and you could have a real problem on your hands. However, it is also important to note that it is best to use materials designed for their specific purpose and avoid mixing and matching too frequently. It will be much safer this way.
